FUNGLODE and UCM
Enter into an Agreement
The Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (FUNGLODE)
and Universidad Complutense de Madrid (UCM), through Instituto
Complutense de Relaciones Internacionales (ICEI), entered
into a cooperation agreement with the intent to carry out
programs in various areas of Social and Political Sciences.
The topics of mutual common interest include:
- Democratic Institutionalism and the Rule of Law
- Economic Development and Social Equity
- Natural Resources and Environmental Protection
- Regional Integration and Globalization Process
- Geopolitical Studies and International Relations
- Past, present, and future of political, diplomatic, economic,
social and cultural relations between Dominican Republic and
Spain
- European Union-Caribbean-Latin American Relations
The agreement was executed by Dr. Rafael Puyol Antolín, rector
of UCM and Leonel Fernández, founder and president of the
Global Foundation, at the FUNGLODE’s headquarters, this past
February 14.
The aim through this agreement, just as with others already
entered into with various institutions, is to reach higher
levels of study and research on themes of social, cultural,
and education interest.
According to provided in the document, “this agreement will
contribute to promote technical cooperation in sectors to
be established by both institutions, as a supplementary support
to their respective initiative to attain their particular
objectives.”
The technical cooperation to be established between FUNGLODE
and ICEI could adopt the following modalities:
- Exchange of information, documents,
and publications
- Exchange of specialists in the cooperation field
- Scheduling and hosting of conferences, seminars, and
workshops
- Joint research on issues of mutual interest
- Joint publication of mutual interest.
- Fellowship granting, training courses, visiting programs,
and internships.
