Leonel Fernández Enters into an Agreement
with the Intent to Achieve Greater Levels of Educational Activity

Leonel Fernández (RIGHT), president of the Global
Foundation for Democracy and Development and Mr. Kent
Sharples, president of Daytona Beach Community College,
Daytona Beach, Florida, enter into an inter-institutional
cooperation agreement, which places emphasis on training
of personnel, education, and technologies, and other relevant
areas. |
On January 23, the president of the Global
Foundation for Democracy and Development (FUNGLODE) executed
a five-year agreement, which among others, seeks to achieve
greater levels of educational activity in the institution.
Such an agreement provides for technical cooperation in a
wide range of topics in the field of education, including,
without limitation, fellowships, grants, training courses,
course organization, visiting programs, and internships. Further,
expert exchange in the area of cooperation, joint publications
of mutual interest, document and information exchange, research
and investigation on subjects of mutual interest.
The document's execution took place at the Florida-based Daytona
Beach Community College, Daytona Beach. Signing for the institution
was Mr. Kent Sharples, president of the Daytona Beach Community
College.
Such an agreement falls within the educational program of
FUNGLODE intended to train individuals in various areas of
human knowledge, with the intent to contribute to the nation's
social and economic development.
In addition to the above-mentioned, other
areas, include:
- Engineering and computer technology
- Small business management
- Hospital Management, and
- Education, particularly educational technology
and initial education.
FUNGLODE and Daytona Community College Beach,
an entity with a high rate of Hispanic students, will hold
alternate meetings at the headquarters, respectively, on the
basis of the established collaboration development needs.
Present during the agreement's signing were, for FUNGLODE,
Natasha Despotovich, International Relations Director, Frederic
Emam-Zade, and Edy Martínez, Science and Technology
Director, and; for Daytona Beach Community College, Donald
Mathews, Director of International Affairs; Nancee Bailey,
University Vice President, and Mr. Sharples' wife.
